Dr Ryan is a Consultant and Specialist Orthodontist who joined the practice in 2008. She graduated with an honours degree from Cork University Dental School in 2000. She held hospital appointments in Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery and Paediatric Dentistry.
She then embarked on a 5 year specialist training programme in Orthodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital, UCLH, during which she was awarded a Master’s degree in Orthodontics (with distinction), a Membership in Orthodontics, and a Fellowship in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Dr Ryan is currently a Consultant Orthodontist and honorary Associate Professor at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospital and is involved in research, teaching and training dentists in one of Europe’s largest post-graduate dental schools. She completed a PhD on the psychological effects of malocclusions in 2013. She is Clinical Sub-Editor of the Journal of Orthodontics and is currently the Director of the British Orthodontic Society Foundation (BOSF).
She has been awarded numerous prizes and grants, including the prestigious Ian Reynolds Award for best Master’s thesis and the 3M Clinical Excellence Award. She lectures and has published widely. She is an examiner for University College London Master’s in Orthodontics degree and a Lead examiner for the Membership in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Dr Ryan specialises in all aspects of child, adolescent, and adult orthodontic treatment, including interceptive early treatment, fixed and removable orthodontic appliances/braces, orthognathic treatment, multidisciplinary treatment, and aesthetic treatment with aligners.
